Concentrated nose with cherry, plum, cranberry, cinnamon, allspice, leather and vanilla. The palate is silky and ethereal with layers of flavour, very fine tannins and impressive length.
Vineyard & Winemaking
Silts over gravel from the Waihopai Valley. 100% Pinot Noir. Clones 777, 115 and Clone 5.
This wine is blended from the Burgundy Clones 777 and 115, along with Clone 5. Fermented in small two-ton oak cuves partially cold-soaked for three to five days and only hand plunged. Subsequently left on skins for 15 days, pressed off and matured in a high proportion of new French puncheons and barriques for just under 2 years, with one rack and return before bottling. This wine is unfiltered and has one year's bottle age prior to release.
This collection of wines has been made in a stylistically bold manner. The focus is on purity, texture, concentration and longevity, with a hell of a lot of personality!
