Organic Coarse Bulgur Wheat – Nutty, Hearty & Quick-Cooking | SpiceBloom
Organic Coarse Bulgur Wheat
Golden cracked durum wheat with a hearty bite and nutty flavour for pilafs, grain bowls, salads and Mediterranean-style meals.
SpiceBloom Organic Coarse Bulgur Wheat is made from certified-organic durum wheat that has been parboiled, dried and cracked into larger golden pieces. The coarse cut gives cooked dishes a firmer, more substantial texture than fine bulgur.
Use it as the base for vegetable pilafs, warm grain bowls, hearty salads, stuffed vegetables and one-pan meals. It can also be served alongside curries and stews when you want a change from rice or couscous.
A Hearty Grain for Everyday Cooking
Coarse bulgur holds its texture well in warm dishes, chilled salads and generously seasoned grain-based meals.
Pilafs and One-Pan Meals
Cook with stock, onion, tomato, herbs and vegetables for a savoury pilaf or simple one-pot side dish.
Salads and Grain Bowls
Cool after cooking and combine with cucumber, tomato, parsley, roasted vegetables, legumes or a lemon dressing.
Stuffed Vegetables
Mix with herbs, lentils, vegetables or mince for filling capsicums, tomatoes, courgettes and wraps.
🇹🇷 Certified Organic Bulgur from Turkey
Bulgur is made by partially cooking durum wheat before drying and cracking it. This coarse Turkish bulgur has larger pieces that produce a pleasantly chewy texture suited to pilafs, grain salads and warm bowls.
Basic Cooking Guide
- Rinse the coarse bulgur under cold running water.
- Add 1 cup bulgur and 2–2½ cups water or stock to a saucepan.
- Bring to the boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is coarse bulgur different from fine bulgur?
Coarse bulgur has larger pieces and a firmer, chewier cooked texture, making it well suited to pilafs and warm grain bowls. Fine bulgur softens more quickly and is commonly used in salads and patties.
Is coarse bulgur wheat gluten-free?
No. Bulgur is made from durum wheat and naturally contains gluten.
Can coarse bulgur be soaked instead of cooked?
Fine bulgur is often softened by soaking, but coarse bulgur generally develops a better texture when gently simmered according to the cooking guide.
